Area North Festival 2017

This year’s seaside themed Area North Festival took place on Saturday 19th August 2017. The festival, organised by Marsh Farm Futures, was officially opened by Bedfordshire High Sheriff, Vinod Tailor.

A surf simulator, water zorbs, giant deck chairs, Punch and Judy show, inflatables live DJ and music, all free, were just some of the attractions at the festival which ensured that all ages enjoyed themselves.

Luton Borough Council and Keepmoat had a stall where they updated the community on the new development which is now taking shape and scheduled to open very soon. Children also got special festival discounts for entry to the Fun Factory which was a huge hit with parents.

Signposts once again provided their fantastic volunteers who helped with the setting up and clearing away on the day, car parking and whatever else was needed. Jane, a volunteer with Signposts was the lucky winner of a luxury hamper in the Marsh Farm Futures Raffle Draw.

Local resident, Kris Spacey, said:” We have had a very good day at the event and will be back next year.”

Organiser, Cathy McShane, Youth and Community Manager for Marsh Farm Futures said: “Area North Festival is an example of how the Community come together. This year, Marsh Farm Futures wanted to deliver a community event where everyone regardless of circumstances could fully take part in all that was on offer, free of charge. Entry to Futures Fun Factory was also considerably reduced. The weather, thankfully held up and there was a steady flow of visitors throughout the day.

We will continue to aim to make this annual community event more enjoyable as each year progresses. I could not have done this without the help and support received from colleagues, volunteers, or the community who always come out and support these events.
